Dearest Wintergarden Faith Community,

Occasionally, you will receive emails that are titled “Keepin’ It Real with Pastor Devon.” These emails will be very specific in purpose, focused on something important happening at Wintergarden, and important for all to read.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to read and respond if asked.

Blessings,
Pastor Devon

Welcome to the cone of uncertainity!

Hurricane season is always a fun time around our area. For many of us, we still remember the uncertainty of Hurricane Charlie and how at the last minute Charlie took that easternly turn. And in that turn, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda were devastated. Many folks in our congregation were without electricity for weeks. It was really hard time for everyone.

And now, we are faced with a hurricane that has some unpredictability as well. When there is unpredictability, there is fear. And for many, there is our memory of the hurricanes that have missed and hit as well.

First, we all need to give one another a little more grace during this time. Remember everyone is worrying about the hurricane, we just handle that worry and fear very differently. Prepare in the way that works for you best and take all the necessary precautions that you feel are needed. Please be safe with everything you are doing!

Second, we will be cancelling our Wednesday evening program for dinner, watching the Chosen, and bible study. We will plan to resume the following week.

Third, the office will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Fourth, the food pantry will be CLOSED on Wednesday and Thursday.

Fifth, on Sunday, I pray we can gather for an informal worship. We will gather around table and enjoy food and fellowship and “circle church.” If you can, bring a dish to share for breakfast. Then we can gather around table together to eat and talk about life.

Sixth, if you need any help, please call Pastor Devon at 941-525-6671 and we will see if we can find ways to help you with any storm prep.

Seventh, COME ON OUT AT 8AM TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 TO HELP PUT EVERYTHING THAT IS LOOSE OUTSIDE AWAY. Wear your raincoat and help in any way you can.

Again, please be safe. And let’s pray for the people of Cuba as Hurricane Ian impacts them tonight and to continue to pray for the hurricane to move west and not impact any other communiites.
