Disaster Relief after Hurricane Ian

Charlotte County was deeply impacted by Hurricane Ian on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Living through an almost Category 5 hurricane is an experience like no other. We continue to wrap our heads around what happened and how we can continue to feed people in our community. While we are feeding people physically, there is also a huge spiritual, mental, and emotional hunger as well. We are set up to host mission teams to help with long term recovery and disaster assistance. We would love for you to join us as we help people rebuild their homes and their lives. Please consider being part of the hope our community needs and consider being part of those efforts.

Many people have reached out to ask, “how can we help?” Honestly, come and serve with us! If you aren’t able to, you can financially give to Wintergarden’s Disaster Relief Fund through our donation tab. We continue to help make homes safe, secure, and sanitary and are helping to rebuild the inside of homes. We continue to listen to the needs of our neighbors and the list is getting very long. Folks need debris removed from their property, drywall and insulation removed and then reinstalled, flooring put back in, walls painted, ceilings fixed, and more…many lost everything and need new homes. All that to say, people will need help for years to come. It is estimated we will be in long term recovery for the next 2-4 years at a minimum.

Need Help

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

“Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”

Matthew 22:36-40 (CEB)
