Dearest Wintergarden Faith Community,

As we continue to pray for one another, our community, our country, and our world, let us do so with love and hope. Our weekly email of prayers is a way for us to share the prayers shared in worship, through the food pantry, and our various other ministries with a larger group. Due to privacy needs we will only include the first names of people and not last names. We also know this list will not be perfect and in need of constant updating. We will review this every week and be mindful of how we are being asked to pray for one another, our community, our country, and our world.

Blessings,
Pastor Devon

Here We Go!

Pastor Devon is officially on sabbatical. Yesterday was her last day for 14 weeks as she enters a time of renewal. She will be greatly missed during her sabbatical, but we’re glad to be able to do this for her. We will all need to work together during this time to do it well. If you have questions or concerns, please contact a session member. (Bert, Maralee, Rick, Lynn, or Wendy)

Prayers of Joy

  • Kymmie gives thanks for an awesome trivia night! (She learned bats were mammals! 😉  )
  • We all continually give thanks for the mission teams coming to serve our community.
  • Also for the volunteers who go above and beyond to help their community and chosen family!
  • For kids, teachers, staff, and parents as the school year begins – new routines, and pressures, but also opportunities to grow and shine. We pray for a good year for them all.
  • Grace, from Praying Pelican Missions, is moving on. We will greatly miss her amazing spirit, and pray for great things as she is called to other work.
  • We all pray that Pastor Devon’s sabbatical brings her the rest and renewal she so much deserves. Although we already miss her, we rejoice she finally is able to go after many postponements.
  • Gus, one of this week’s disaster relief volunteers, gave thanks for Wintergarden and our willingness to step into this important work.

Concerns

  • Continue to pray for Joy as she grieves her loss of husband, Bob.
  • Also for Bob and Joy’s  daughters and all whom love and miss him. Although the grieving process never easy, Bob’s impact was great and created beautiful ripples, which now make the much grief. Prayers for peace for them all.
  • Allison asked for prayers for her health.
  • Wendy has a friend in Alaska, Chloe, who is fighting her 3rd encounter with endocarditis. She is in YWAM (Youth With a Mission) training and had to pause training to heal her heart. Please pray for her health and mission.
  • Wendy also asked for prayers for a friend in Alaska, Wendy W., who is in her 2nd or 3rd round fighting ovarian cancer. She’s amazingly positive fighting this often missed cancer.
  • Cheryl asked for prayers for the volunteers and clients at our food pantry and at the Homeless Coalition.
  • Continued prayers for Barb’s husband, Fred and neighbor Rich.
  • Prayers also for Wendy’s cousin, Norm, who is in stage 4 prostrate cancer.
  • Also for Wendy’s cousin and his wife (Michael and Nikki), in Michigan. They were in a very serious motorcycle accident. Thanks to God they survived, as it was a bad accident. He has badly broken arm and ribs. She has a broken hip and pelvis. Prayers for healing. Nikki is still a fall risk, but is doing well in rehab with the hope to return home by the end of the week.
  • Prayers for the heat to end, for more rain, but no hurricanes.
  • Prayers also for our food panty and the homeless coalition – for the volunteers and clients.
  • Prayers for those struggling with their mental health.
  • Prayers also for our families – for strong marriages.
  • Kymmie requests prayers for a successful and calm upcoming week.
  • For the lonely, hungry, and afraid; for peace of mind, heart, and soul; for those struggling in any way…. We pray for their needs to be met and that with God’s grace, they find peace.
  • World peace and peace for each of us during the coming months.

Traveling Mercies

  • For Devon, Lamont, and Emma as they travel to Colorado this week.
  • Rich and Karen are traveling to Ireland and Scotland, so pray for a safe, relaxing and fun trip.
  • For our mission teams coming and going.
On the website for the church, there is a way to submit your prayer requests. If this is something you would be interested in doing, please do so. The prayer requests are emailed to Pastor Devon once they are submitted.
